Alright, I was somewhat under a time crunch when I posted this latest video, and time to explain a bit more. This build is my second take on an underground base, since I accidentally deleted the save. This time, it retains the Zio's Fort feel, but in a base at the core of the planet, the absolute deepest I can build it. I have used the lava room concept from my VARN build, in the form of a corridor passageway. It's in it's very early stages, and I have a lot of ideas, but most of them are tentative and will most likely change as the build goes on.

Here is another take on building a base in the Nether, or more of a two-fold base, one in the regular world and one in the Nether/ The Nether base in it's very early construction stages, but I know where I want to go with this build. The dungeon is a natural cave, and I build around that.

Very good. Maybe you will have more by the time I get back from New York. I hope to be back at least for the weekend.

The Nether part of the build should be advanced by then, I have just finished building the base of my fortress. I have opted for a pyramid-like design, but with a smaller building inside the pyramid.

Good. I look forward to it. You like pyramids don't you? Any special reason?

Pyramids are aesthetically pleasing to me, but this might not be the final design, the base and the inside of the base as well, but the top isn't done. I have a lot of space to build up, so plans could change on the go.

Some good progress on the Nether build, I nixed the pyramid design. This is sort of an hybrid of my past projects, taking elements from my VARN build, along with some others. Again, I am going for the building inside a building type, but with twists on it. Screenshots might not be up before a few days -- it's the time of the week where I work a near-double shift and got some crap planned after that.

There is no rush, TON. I look forward to seeing what you end up designing. It sounds very interesting.

I hope you get paid for the extra work.

The design is taking shape pretty well, there WILL be a pyramid (the build itself is NOT a pyramid but will feature one), but it will be an interesting twist. Screenshots will be in shortly, I have taken a different approach and that was to go ahead and build the entire structure with Netherrack, a fragile material then replace it with either Obsidian or bedrock. So far so good.

I am sure you will come up with something unique. You and jezdamyel do different types of build but both of you are very artistic and I look forward to seeing what you create.

Instead of pictures, how about a video tour?

Here is a tour of the updated base in the normal world, and the ginormous progress of the base in the Nether. When I am done building the rest in Netherrack, I will then begin removing the Netherrack and replacing it with bedrock. I wanted to do a Zio's Fortress like, and with my current texture pack, the game reflects the dark stone of the fortress. At the bottom is soul sand, and on top will be lava. Think of it as lava on top of quicksand with the laws of physics out of the equation.

I have also began work on a giant cascade, to have a good supply of water nearby.

Makes sense to me, so there's a method to the madness.
Also, I have began work on a new base with the 1.9 prerelease, and I am going for yet another dungeon, but with some twists. I am also fully experimenting with rails, redstone, pistons etc. Lots of deep chasms, too.... And I have a very nasty trap planned too. Twisted Evil

I shot a video tour of the base so far, it just needs to be converted and uploaded.

My trap is taking shape, but this room contains the rail system so it's going to be ginormous and highly time-consuming. I have a lot more plans for this room as well.

Stay tuned.

Alright, much change here... I have access to Mycelium with my item editor, so I stashed up on it, and I am making an entire external structure, so this build is no longer just a dungeon. The Mycelium, added with giant mushrooms, trees and water, very much look awesome.
This will also significantly slow the progress of the inside base, but I think I will add a portal to the Nether inside this new structure. It is in two different levels and height for each level, and I will put the portal on the pinnacle. I also want to add vines, when I find some.

PostSubject: Re: Skorponok's Minecraft builds   Sat Nov 12, 2011 9:19 pm

And again I deviate to another project. I am doing a town. I was exploring the map looking for my base (I had not rested and respawned very far away from my base), and I found a village. I looked at it, and decided to build Negativetropia 1 from it. I have... disposed of the villagers, and now I am reshaping their town to MY liking.
This will be a long build, but I never quite did any kind of town. First time for everything, I'll see about recording a video tonight.

Almost done with phase 1 of Negativetropia I. I have a forest, a sort of Water temple, several houses, and a suspended walkway that connect to two houses on opposite sides of the town. I have used several materials, and I have a greenhouse to!

I wanted to keep my work exclusive to BSS, but if it will help bring new members to the forums, feel free to use the screenshots of Negativetropia I as a sneak peek of some sort. A sample of my work, shall we say, and if they want to see more, join our community!
