I'm opening this thread so we can post suggestion for mods and things mod related that may be useful.

We may need to sort them in categories but for now this should do. So without further ado:

No more cash register sounds
=>That's the first thing that I wanted to mod out of the game.

The Eyes of Beauty
=>Better textures for eyes can't hurt your game.

Feel free to add more links to this thread.

Menu Music Replacer Maybe
=>Brings back the iconic song from the first Fallout. It's so much better.

Full Dialogue Interface
=>No more guessing what your character is going to say with this mod. Dialogue options will appear in full. This is still beta but it works and it's clearly an improvement. I've tested the Lite version (playing with a pad) and some text can be cut off when the lines are particularly long.

Robot Defense

Adds craftable Protectrons/Utility Protectrons (police, medical, construction, and brewers if you have Buddy), Mr Gutsy/Mr Handy/Miss Nanny, Assaultron/Stealth Assaultron, Heavy Sentry Bot and Sentry Bots. All add a variable amount of defense to a settlement and will actively chase/kill attackers. Especially handy when those stupid "A settlement is under attack!" quest pops and you can't be arsed to go back there. Had this happen to me once, Raiders decided to attack, and they bumped into three Heavy Sentry Bots and five Lieutenant Gutsy. Needless to say things went a bit pear-shaped for them.

You can recruit them if you have the proper Robotics Experts level, and as far as I know, there is no actual limit on how many you can recruit, so you could viably wanderer the wastes with a full blown army of Gutsy or Assaultrons. A nice alternative to turrets but needless to say much more expensive in terms of materials, requiring rarer components like Fiber Optics and Fusion Cores. Some utility Protectrons give a happiness bonus, same thing for Mr Handy and Miss Nanny.

Worsin's Paint Garage

Tired of the fugly stock power armor paint jobs? This mod is for you. Adds a shitload of custom paintjobs, ranging from flames, solid color + flames, gradients and solid colors. Massively improve the looks of all armors. Except for the T51. This armor is fugly.

Glorious nude female mod

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Does not work with one of the possible companions (related to her side quest) and other NPCs who have a LOCKED outfit. All other female companions you can ogle till your heart's content. Even gives you a choice of, err, carpetry.

Gypsy Danger power armor skin

An awesome skin based on the jaeger of the same name in Pacific Rim. Looks pretty sweet!

Craftable food planters

Does what it says on the tin. Grow shite without having to worry about dirt, and also produce slightly more than a regular plantation. Can be placed on any flat surface in any settlement.

No negative affinity

If you're tired of being judged by the arsewipe companions, this takes care of pretty much everything. You can completely remove negative affinity, turn it into positive affinity, or keep negative affinity but with "no fucks were given".

No problem, I haven't been keeping up to date when it comes to mods because I've taken a break from the game. Some of BZ's recommendations look pretty cool. I'm personally waiting for the Creation Kit to come out in order to get serious about mods. Smile

Yeah and I am picking up your slack, you lazy bastard Razz

Robot Defense is ace, and I feel it compensates perfectly for the rather underwhelming turrets. I don't use power armor or energy weapons anyway so it's a good way to put my overstock of batteries to good use. And like I said before, it's really fun having a squad of gung-ho Lt. Gutsy watching my back Fallout 4 Mods 197373 Also, if you have Buddy, you can craft a special type of Utility Protectrons which supplies water and food, which can be pretty useful.

The craftable planters I feel should have been part of the game in the first place. Some settlements have limited space for crops and sometimes it's rather inconvenient, so having the option to place planters wherever you feel like is ace, especially since they have better yield than regular crops.

No negative affinity came about when I was getting fed up of being judged by the arsewipe companions. I don't like being forced to play do-goody in order not to hurt their bloody feelings and I don't care for the junkie drunk Irish screwup.

Worsin's Paint Garage is a nice touch for power armor players and the paintjobs are really well done and very detailed, the only thing I dislike is that the Solid Black one comes with WAY too much bloody chrome. I want solid black, not black and bling.

There is one dude which is working on WW2 themed paintjobs, he's doing a Russian/CCCP T60 skin and a British T51 skin, which might make me actually like the fugly T51. He also has very nicely done X-01 skins, but I am not going to mention those.

Craftable Legendary items

Allows you to craft your own Legendary weapons. Beware, they come with a VERY STEEP rare resource cost, but it absolutely worth it. I modded Kellogg's revolver, adding Two Shot and it packs 193 damage, and I still have one extra receiver upgrade to do and two more points to take in Gunslinger. Also infused a bladed baseball bat with plasma.

Build your own vault

Does what it says on the tin. Takes the vault assets from the game and allows you to build your own vault. Of course you're still limited with the build size unless you use console commands to bypass it, but the possibilities are endless. A vault not only looks better but is much more defensible and customizable -- I made a large entry hall filled with Heavy Sentry Bots and Lt. Gutsy and I have a room dedicated to agriculture with the craftable planters mod.

Definitively worth a look though you'll need to get Settlement Objects Expanded as well otherwise there is no way right now to add a water supply to a vault.

I may or may not do a video showing off the vault I build, it's pretty minimal but it has the necessities and it's a safe place. I've got a few settlers -- Sheffield, the Vault-Tec rep and unused companions, the rest will be robots because fuck random radiant quests about killing ghouls, supermutants or rescuing some worthless tosser.

Skip Far Harbor Memory Puzzle

I couldn't be bothered with the puzzle so this really helped me not giving up on the DLC. Seriously I don't mind puzzles in games that are supposed to be about puzzles but if I'm playing a crpg I don't want to have to deal with things like that. Especially if it's cumbersome and clunky like that.

Raider Power Armor Chop-shop

Makes the Raider power armor much more useful. Can now be upgraded like you would regular raider armor (buttressed, welded, reinforced -- basically the equivalent of A to F) and you have several paintjobs available.

CROSS PlasRail rifle

A Chinese prototype plasma rifle. Really cool weapon, highly customizable (scopes, stocks and even paint schemes). I found one with Explosive, converted it to a Flamer and this weapon easily two-shots a Deathclaw, and I am level 25. There is a two second reloading time preventing it from being ridiculously OP.

Midwestern BoS power armor

A blast from the past for old-school Fallout players -- the Midwestern BoS power armor. As far as I can remember pretty faithful to the original, and it looks significantly better than the T-51 and T-60.

I haven't upgraded it fully but stats look pretty similar to the X-02 mod, so it's a solid mid game armor before the X-01. There's also different paintjobs for it and it can also be modded to allow running while underwater.

You do not need to play the BoS to get it. It spawn near the Boston Airport, just find it and use it.

TES-51 Skyrim-based power armor

As per the title. A brand new power armor based on Skyrim. Highly customizable, looks pretty good. Also includes the Steel longsword and warhammer from Skyrim with insane levels of detailing.

I play sneak so I rarely use it myself, but the Midwestern BoS armor upgraded with Marine Foils travels underwater much faster than on land so it definitively has some use, and it looks pretty slick with the black paintjob.

The 40K armor looks great, and there's a good choice of Space Marine factions but I wish there was some Chaos Undivided paintjobs as well. The Bolter rifle is pretty damn powerful but .75 rounds aren't sold in F4 so you have to craft them and they're not cheap so it offsets the sheer raw damage of said gun.

I haven't installed the Skyrim armor myself but I thought some of you might like it.

Nope, I almost never use them. My guy is more of a talker and I didn't invest all that much in combat perks (which is not such a bad thing since it can make the game more challenging at times).

The funny thing is that the Dwarven armour in Skyrim looks a lot like a power armour (especially if like me you remove the silly looking yellow tint).

True, the Dwarven armor would make for a pretty sweet power armor. I like the Dwarven Armor and I don't mind the golden hue it has. I upgrade and enchant the shit out of it, same thing with the Ebony armor, which for the record is my favourite. Don't really care for the Daedric set.

Did you take a look at the Raider power armor mod? It actually becomes useful and has a very fitting look for the setting instead of being absolute toot.

If take a serious look at them all the power armours look a bit silly. It's probably because they thought that having a suit à la Iron Man would please gamers...

I'm always more inclined to equip my guy with the stuff that looks good even if it's not the best. In Fallout 2 I used to keep the leather jacket for the entire game just because it looked cool (I even did a hand to hand only run with one and it ended because of a critical hit by one of the last remaining turrets in Navarro after I had cleared the entire base).

In Fallout 4 I've found most of the good stuff looks silly, it's almost as if they've done that on purpose. Laughing

The Enclave armours are fucking ace, especially the Hellfire Armor. The Black Devil Mk. Ii is a classic and I am glad someone modded it in F4, I make a run for the Glowing Sea and get it as soon as possible. With the Storm Actuators upgrade it's easy to make a run for it when shit hits the fan of to catch up with annoying enemies. But yeah, the Iron Man suit system is bollocks. Makes me miss the days of Ob with guns/NV... and F4's power armor system doesn't even make sense, except for the very early T45 who were powered by fusion cells, a power armor is supposed to have enough fuel to last centuries.

But yeah, the rest of the armors look absolutely ridiculous. The Combat Armor is the only decent suit, save for the Robot Armor from Automatron.

IOUN, some idiot has modded New Vegas for multiplayer. HERESY!!!

If you're using headphones this is one mod that you have to try.

Found this mod, which adds some of the weapons from NV

Clicky

It's in Russian, which is no big deal for me, just download the English patch. Add the mod manually in NMM, install it and you're good to go.

Ranger Sequoia from NV

You can either replace ALL .44 revolvers with Ranger Sequoias, have it added as a unique weapon in Kellogg's House, or set it to be craftable. I went with option 2. This version uses .44 Magnum ammo instead of .45-70 Govenment.

I recently started up a new character to give Survival mode a try, and also experience the DLC I paid for. Here are a few mods I downloaded to make Survival mode more to my liking.

Lone wanderer fast travel

This mod adds a motorcycle you can repair to the junkyard near the starting zone. You can then use it to travel to any of your discovered settlements, to the various cities, and to a number of other landmarks. It also supports the DLC areas. This is a nice alternative to fast travel. I also downloaded one that adds a boat, but I haven't actually discovered that, yet.

Survival Saving

This adds recordable holotapes you can use to save your game, which is a nice alternative to Survival mode's save restrictions. I configured it to allow me to record hard saves at terminals without consuming the holotape, or to create a quicksave in the pip-boy that does consume the holotape. I think this is a nice balance to create the sense of danger Bethesda wanted without the annoyance of having to sleep to save.
