Much better book:

The Lusty Argonian Maid

ACT IV, SCENE III, CONTINUED

Lifts-Her-Tail: Certainly not, kind sir! I am here but to clean your chambers.

Crantius Colto: Is that all you have come here for, little one? My chambers?

Lifts-Her-Tail: I have no idea what it is you imply, master. I am but a poor Argonian maid.

Crantius Colto: So you are, my dumpling. And a good one at that. Such strong legs and shapely tail.

Lifts-Her-Tail: You embarrass me, sir!

Crantius Colto: Fear not. You are safe here with me.

Lifts-Her-Tail: I must finish my cleaning, sir. The mistress will have my head if I do not!

Crantius Colto: Cleaning, eh? I have something for you. Here, polish my spear.

Lifts-Her-Tail: But it is huge! It could take me all night!

Crantius Colto: Plenty of time, my sweet. Plenty of time.

END OF ACT IV, SCENE III

That book was in Morrowind, Oblivion, and I think Skyrim. I know Skyrim had volume two, though.

One book I liked in particular was The Black Arrow. Both volumes are in Skyrim, although volume two is a skill book, and a royal pain in the ass to track down. Another that's been my favourite is A Less Rude Song.

Also, there was one book I read back in Morrowind, but I forget what it was called. It was about a group of adventurers going and taking out some undead in a cemetery. At the end, two of the three of them left are laughing at the third one, an illusionist, and planning to take off without giving her her money. And then it's revealed that she was sitting there, invisible. Then she takes all the money and leaves.

Hi Dragon, I remember that one but don't remember its name either. The reader is thinking about doing the Lusty Argonian Miad.

To hear someone doing The Lusty Argonian Maid... That'd be hilarious xD

And I need to find that one. I think it was "The Incident in" someplace...

Aha, found it! It's titled "Incident in Necrom".

Quote :
Nitrah laughed. “Those spells of illusion won't help her track us down, as useful as she keeps saying they are. Paralysis, light, silence -- not so good when you don't know where to look.”

They closed the door behind them.

“Invisibility is another spell of illusion,” said Massitha's disembodied voice. The gold on the table rose in the air and vanished from sight as she slipped it into her purse. The door again opened and closed, and all was silent until Osmic and Nitrah returned a few minutes later.

A reading from a TES Book 449434 is what was heard then. Very Happy That was a good one. The books in the games were good and fun to read, still are. Someone put a lot of labor into them.

You guys read all the books in TES series? I just pick 'em up, stash them in my house and say "oh yeah, I'll read them some day", just like in real life... Laughing

Haha, that's a lot of what I do, especially with the big series: The Song of Pelinal, The Real Berenziah, etc.

Ooh, one series I also love is Sixteen Accords of Madness, even though you can only read two of them. They're tales about our favourite madgod Sheogorath. Great reads.

Tri, when I first started playing Oblivion that was my reaction then I said someone went to the trouble of writing this book the least I owe them is to glance at it. Found them interesting and actually read them

Nakia, yeah, I understand. I have the exact same thought whenever I started Oblivion or Skyrim. After the second or third book, I say "meh, too long" and go kill some baddies... Smile

I did read the books in Oblivion but not so much in Skyrim. Some of the Journals you do need to read in order to solve the quest.

For all the bad things you can say about The Elder Scrolls, you cannot deny that they PACK detail in. I mean, we're sitting here discussing our favourite books. xD

It's as Angry Joe put it about Skyrim:

Quote :
In what other game can you massacre some bandits, kill a dragon, steal from a mansion, go back to your house, do some interior decorating, and then curl up by the fire with a good book?

Arcanum did include newspapers in the game.

Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale both included books.

Newspapers were important to Arcanum. I remember books in BG II but nothing stands out in my mind except a couple you needed to solve quests and if I recall correctly explained how to kill something. Don't remember IWD books. Maybe too long ago.

Remember How To Be An Adventurer in IWD2? It wasn't very detailed but the index was hilarious.

You can find a transcript of BG books here.

IMO books in Arcanum were even better.

Oblivion also had the Dark Horse Courier. My favourite edition was one you could only get after doing Sheogorath's quest. The entire thing was about the flaming dogs you made rain from the sky. Laughing

Ooh, A Dance in Fire is a great series, if you can actually track the books down. And, like I said, The Black Arrow is an utterly fantastic two-parter.
