It's been ten years since we've created this little island of tranquillity that has become our home online.

If we measure our success in sheer numbers then we may come short as we can't boast about the amount of traffic here at the Saloon.

Still, we had four stalwart regulars visit the Saloon in the last 24 hours (including yours truly) but in all fairness anyone here will probably tell you that you can't judge something so immaterial by numbers alone.

We may be few but we are stalwart and resilient and we do care about our friends here at the Saloon.

Ten years is quite the milestone...

If the Saloon was a kid he or she would be on their way to becoming a teenager and would start looking down on us old farts and our lame ways.

By the way it is also Sakura's birthday and you probably know that Sakura is particularly fond of tuna so if you couldn't think of a gift idea that's something to keep in mind.

I would nevertheless post a warning to our members not to look for inspiration from our smileys when it comes to fishing and baiting.

With that out of the way I'd like to post a few numbers to reminisce a bit.

We have 42 registered members (the signification of this number is not lost on anyone here) who have posted 27341 posts in 683 topics.

On a less tangible note I think you will agree that our members have achieved a lot more than that in the last ten years.

Some of us have discovered the joys of parenthood, others have graduated from school and then university.

Some of us have been working hard to make old dreams come true, others have even managed to share their art with the rest of us.

We've had our ups and downs, we've grown old but we've been trying our best not to grow up (at least not too much).

So to all of you Friends, Visitors and Guests, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the last ten years.

Let's hope for the best for the next ten years and in the meantime let me wish you once again a warm welcome.

Ten years is an amazing achievement and I'm both proud and very happy to be part of this forum. I have some amazing friends here and found returning after such a long period of time away was like putting a pair of comfy slippers on.

I still remember my first time around these parts. I'm glad I was approached to be a part of this board. I've made friends and had very interesting discussions.
