A recent mod pack that may interest Morrowind fans:

Watching this video makes me miss the old game (I never really liked Oblivion as it was too mundane after Morrowind). In any case that should prove a fair incentive to play Morrowing again.

You can also download the installation guide.

Westly's Master Head Pack is recommended.

The main download for the mod package is more than one gigabyte and the uncompressed archive takes more than three gigabytes... It's a big fellow.

Also 7 and Vista users have to disable the UAC.

Yes, I have this pack installed, along with a very few other mods that I like. To be honest, the pack - on its own - does pretty well everything you need apart from adding things like quests.

When it came out, I worried that it would be a nightmare to install and produce a glitchy game, but that's not the case. So long as you follow the Guide EXACTLY then you end up with a stable and sold game. It took me less than one hour to do everything and be up and running with a game that looks pretty awesome

Unfortunately, whilst it looks amazing, it doesn't touch some of the really annoying things about Morrowind, such as the poor quality animations of the NPCs and the fact that most of them stand their like statues 24/7 with no 'schedules'.

We got a bit spoilt by Oblivion didn't we?

But there is a depth and an atmosphere with Morrowind that you don't really get with Oblivion - at least not with the vanilla game

Definitely. I have very good memories of playing Morrowind but I can't say the same about Oblivion.

I wish Skyrim will bring back some of the old Morrowind magic. Oblivion was just too mundane for me. The only part I really enjoyed was Shivering Isles... What a setting and what an atmosphere! Reminded me of all the fantasy novels I had read growing up. A whole game set in this world would have been incredible.

Morrowind was F'N awesome/, seriously better than Ob. I had never heard of the game until buying my P4 back in the day... ASUS decided to toss a few games in along with the graphics card, and Morrowind was one of those games. DAMN, this game blew my mind when I initially played it. This mod makes the game look squeaky-clean and even more polished than before. Awesome, just awesome.

The mod is on the Nexus:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36945/?

I've just run it (I know, I'm late to the party) and it looks incredibly good. Smile

The only thing I dislike has to be the modded heads but looking around the Nexus I've found some really cool modded heads and hair:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42616/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43156/?

I'm just posting two links but these modders have uploaded files for most races except the Argonians (unfortunately).

But there is one for the Khajits:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44206/?

Last but not least I've found this mod which makes in game text less blurry:

http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/36873/?

All in all Morrowind is getting quite the proverbial coat of paint with all these mods. Shiny! Smile

EDIT: there is a newer version of MGE XE available which allows for UI scaling.
