Remakes...

I can get the need for studios to come up with sequels and remakes that make a lot of money but seriously that's just crap.

Can anyone think of remakes that actually bring something new to the silver screen or remakes that are at the very least as good as the original? I can only think of De Palma's Scarface, David Cronenberg's The Fly or maybe Scorsese's The Departed.

Watching Gus Van Sant's Psycho is just too painful. It's flat and has no soul. It's so bad that it makes Tim Burton's (flawed) Planet of the Apes look like a masterpiece.

Most remakes just shows theres nothing origional about what they are trying to do.

Most never try bring something new to the current classic and even when it does it can amke that film just not feel right.

very few remakes are good for any media.

i have no idea why they remake anything. there have been a few remakes i have liked but most where musicals. I do get the original and the remake and most of the time the remake is just garbage. some remakes have nothing to do with the original but the basic 2 paragraph plot -_-

I have been trying to think of any remakes that I considered better than the original and other those mentioned by Cara I haven't.

Trying to improve on a once popular classic original movie is a bit like trying to improve 'The Mona Lisa' in my opinion.

well i liked phantom of the opera.. and Moulin rouge.. and all that. same idea just different music for some of them.

last house on the left.. that was a good remake.. but the original was not that good to me to start XD
