| Is that the same place as NWN and IWD? |

The stories take place in the same world but in different parts and at different times so what works in NWN or IWD do apply in the BG setting. In any case, the idea is that we could use the Forgotten Realms universe as a starting point to build up our stories. Dam Zarak will be able to give us more details regarding what he has in mind. |

| Either the BG or IWD setting is fine with me, and the lore can burn in Muspelheim. This is meant to be fun storywriting with friends, not a history lesson.
As for the plot, the BSS RPG I made would be fun, gathering the Curseword weapons to wage war on G ratings, if we want to go the over the top route. Or if we want to go the serious route, ehh, bloody hell, I have no sodding idea right now TBH. I have a semi-idea but it would be full-on evil.
VAing it could be an idea. I don't perticularely care, but I am A-OK with voicing Zarak. |

| Hmm, VAing it would be fun. Too bad we don't have an animator we could do a video. Oh well Personally I prefer going for tongue in cheek we need Triactua.
If we do decide to VA it does everyone have a decent mic not a camcorder? |

Let's just look solemn and nod, Trip. If that does not work, we'll just have to distract people with risque commentary so that our ignorance remains a secret! - Quote :

I would not wish such a cruel fate upon my cousins; why, the foul smoke it would produce! Obscure nothern tradition shamanism jokes aside - absolutely agreed. As for the rest, I'd prefer the BG setting, myself, and a 'serious' (or 'neutral', come to think of it, as one can always crack jokes, whatever the circumstances) option. The first opinion is but a personal preference, the second - well, I do believe that it allows much more creativity. Humour can always be introduced into even a morbid or dramatic story, but it would not work very well the other way around. Perhaps we should refrain from making a choice now (aside from some very vague plot that would explain where do we meet and where would we be going), see where the tale takes us and classical notions of decorum be damned? - Nakia wrote:

I've some sort of contraption in my mp3 player that has a talking spirit bound to it; it remembers all that was said during a given moment and repeats it on command... They tell me it's name is Dictaphone. It's decent enough, even if it clips the high Fs, but it's not like I'm going to need to sing opera for this... |

| Oh I don't know, I like a bit of opera
I have a mic as part of my lap top |

| Hi Trip, a lap top can be a very vehicle for casual VA recordings. Have you tried recordings and if so isthere any crackling noise?
Any way we can worry about this once we get going. I am working on my character. Getting ideas as we post here. |

| Cheap mikes can be really handy. Coming up with some text should be the first step though. |

| Cara is right first we need to write our stories and get the project going. |

| Right then, let's start with the backstories first, and we'll make up the rest as we go along. If everyone is up for VA then so be it, voiced this work will be. |

| Hokay, I have posted a little preamble giving some background to my character. Please note I have made my character old and basically retired but far from helpless. |

| I've posted a short introduction. I took some liberties with my last results and dropped the Paladin stuff in order to focus on a more enjoyable picture (still going for a rather decent guy but certainly not one that bears his goodness on his sleeve). I'm definitely leaning more towards the chaotic end of the spectrum though. |

| Love your background story, Cara and it gave me a little chill. Beware this person! I think it a nice contrast to my more laid back story. Two mystery characters are now on the scene. |

| I enjoyed reading what everyone had to say. Zarak's had an interesting plot, Nakia's made me smile (it would seem that your character is the sanest and most drama-free so far ), and Carabas' was a very elaborate, very courteous threat/warning. This should be good. I wonder what other people will come up with. |

| Thanks, Rune, but watch out for my character. She is a sorcerer and while it is true that material goods do not interest her she has lived a very long time in human years and definitely has a past. I like to underplay things. Sorcerers don't survive for ages beyond mortal life spans by being flamboyant. Because the Sorcery ability is innate and not learned I see them as loners. Distrusted by many.
So beware.Yes it will be interesting to see what others come up with but we have enough already to move forward if we wish.
The question is what or who did Zarak see. |

| It was one of my ideas to introduce one of us and start the party gathering part of this aventure, and it may or may not work our. Anyone who wishes to continue fromthis point is absolutely free to, though I was pondering other ideas for introductions. Let's go with the flow and see what happens. |

| I had Nakia settle in a small village in the Black Forest in order to make it easy for her to meet Zarak but I think the more interesting and fun encounter would be between Zarak and Runa. Just a note on the village maybe about ten families which would mean a possibility of maybe fifty people including the elderly and children. A farming community with some of the people doing a few basic crafts, a small mill, a small inn, blacksmith, maybe a potter and weaver all mainly relying on barter for local things. Some hunting. Nothing fancy and no lord. Just folk eking out a basic existence. |

| I agree, the banters between Zarak and Runa would be gold I like your idea as well, grandma. However, you seem to be a protector for your village, and while Zarak is not actively hostile, he will have no qualm whatsoever brutally killing anyone trespassing too close to his home. So that, in a way, would put our characters at odds, in a way. Hmm. I might change Zarak's alignment to NE. For this run I feel it will be a better fit. |

| Heh, Nakia, never let it be said that sane people don't have a few tricks up their sleeves, eh? How the plot thickens. 'Twould be interesting if Runa was the one to meet Zarak first, I agree, but I just don't see her entering the woods without an important reason (which, for her, would be knowledge or the prospect of making some coin). She is a city gal and no wonder, seeing how she missed civilization so. Hm... How about we all learn of some standing stones or a faerie ring or whatever deep within the Black Forest, decide to investigate for various reasons, and meet there? That said, it's interesting to see how our interpretation of alingments begins to play out... |
