Baldur's Gate is back

The internet is rife with speculations so for now we can't tell what we are to expect. The only thing that we know for sure is that something is coming...

I'm interested to see what this means. I've heard speculation of a port for mobile devices, which sounds plausible to me.

Your guess is as good as mine. I've read it could be a high def version of the game but it hasn't been confirmed.

Or, could this be the prequel that was rumored?

Doesn't matter to me. Any new type of Baldur's Gate will be enough to make me go crazed with excitement. Baldur's Gate II was simply, indisputably (well, disputable, but no one seems to dispute it), one of the best RPGs of all time.

Most of us here (if not all of us) are veterans of the BG series so you won't find many people to disagree with you on this point.

Heard about this somewhere else. I am not getting excited until I know more. I will wait for player reviews and ignore all hype.

EA is great at cashing in on DLCs (and don't get me started on day one DLCs).

Whenever I talk about EA, there is always a curse word before, during or after. Don't get me started on the NHL game EA sports makes.

Does the link you posted do anything else than play music or show a pic? I was hoping for a game preview/teaser...

They have a countdown on the page, now. Probably some announcement coming tomorrow.

It looks like what they have been teasing is Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. Apparently, it will feature some new content, and perhaps an HD upgade to the graphics.

So technically : the countdown is until the page creator starts to play [the] BG [enhanced edition] again...

I'm not surprised since there was a rumor on the net about it but I'm interested in what they mean by extra content. I wonder if it's worth it since with Easy Tutu and the numerous mods we can already play as much BG as we want.

It's been years and I think it won't ever be released but I have been waiting for the Eranon NPC mod for Tutu... A Githzerai monk companion in BG would have been incredibly cool.

Apparently, it will be using an updated version of the infinity engine, so hopefully that means some of those mods will be easily updated to work with the new engine. It might even help bring some new people to the modding community.

I'm just hoping for updated graphics.

I am just in a wait and see mode. I don't trust Electronic Arts. They don't care about the player just getting the most dollar they can. Their stock has gone down so the pull out something that still has a strong following and repaint it.

I don't think it's Electronic Arts. On the website, they say it's going to be Atari, Overhaul Games in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast. I believe you can sleep easy..
