| If your are picked for a Voice Acting part is is important that you keep in touch with the Modder or Developer. Let them know if you will not be available and when you will be available. They work to a deadline and need the recorded lines as soon as possible. If you are unable to do the lines for some reason or will be unavailable they have the right to choose someone else to do the lines.
Keep in contact with the Modder or Developer. |

| Voice Actors please post your stats, resume or Curriculum vitae, demos in this forum. Use a separate thread, please. You are responsible for maintaining and updating your information.
Please follow the format that jez, Sakura777 and I have used. Remember that everyone of us has an accent.

| Curriculum vitae meaning the course of your life. In North America it's not exactly the same.
The word "résumé" is French for summary. |

| OI really should clean this thread up. Move some posts. On another forum in response to a modder saying maybe he had low expectations I responded as follows: - Quote :
- I wish all modders would remember that we VAers are amateurs, we do this because we like doing it. We are not professionals, our payment is the pleasure we get from it and when it stops being fun we stop doing it. Thank you, (snip) , a pleasure doing business with you.
I know it is frustrating for modders who have worked hard on a mod to not be able to get the voices they need in a timely fashion but they also need to remember that we have problems and commitments too. Computers break down and it is not always possible to get in touch with the modder. People go into hospital or die and we forget everything else. Also, let us be honest, some modders give you poor information, frustrating demands, poor set up of lines.. They don't like the recordings they get and it is the VA's fault of course. Fiddlesticks! I have enough problems in my life without needing to deal with a modder who seems to think he or she is paying me thousands. If you want me to voice act for you make it fun for me or pay me in cold cash or at least an Amazon gift certificate. |

| i agree. while i see it as ok for expectations from a modder to a voice actor( actress) i feel many of them are asking for too much. i never went to acting school. i do not do it as a living. i will not be the best. Most modders cant get the best but I will do just fine ^_____^
we are the best of what we do given the circumstances. we might not be what the modder needs and we might just be what they need. but asking me to touch the moon is a little much.
also remember the voice actor has Evey right to say no to a job. just as the modder does to the voice actor. |

| I def agree with both of you on that part. I have never VA'd in my life, but am willin to try.
A couple modders from the Nexus and 1 at F3U asked me to voice for them. One sent me a script, the other two did not. I voiced for the one with the script and he got pissed off be cause I fixed his spellin so I could do it. But since I changed the spellin, it didn't come out as he wanted it and called me a bunch of names that I will not post here. I messaged back tellin him if he would learn how to spell, then I could voice it the way he wanted.
Of course that infuriated him to no end, so I got even more abuse and then ignored him.
Of the other two, one messaged me back askin when he/she could expect the voice I said I would work on. I sent them a demo and they messaged back saying that every thing I voiced was wrong and why I couldn't get the voice done to go with their mod. I messaged back tellin him/her, that they had never sent me a script or even an idea of what I was supposed to try and act for them. I never heard a thing back.
I have not heard back from the last one. But all of them knew I had never VA'd before.
I feel that if a modder wants you to VA in their mod, they should at least send you a script or at the very least, give you some sort of idea of WHAT they want. We are NOT fortune tellers. |

| True, OldCoot. To be fair to modders they too are ameteurs. Most of them have no idea what a voice actor needs and all too many seem to think of Vaers as robots not humans. They are the MODDER and therefore the experts annd we should bow to them. Remind me to come back and read these posts when we do our Skyrim mod. |

| a unwritten rule is... the modder sends you test lines.(3 or so) if he/she wants it done a way he/she tells you so. and he/she will ask you to do a few takes. some will ask you to do whatever you want. at that point ask for a picture of who you will be playing as it will help you pick a voice.
There was a man who wanted my voice so badly he worked with me until i got the voice 100% how he wanted. that was cool for me because i learned and cool for him because he wanted me for the part. there are others who will take you dry heaving in to the mic for 30 min and call it awesome. (as in BAAADDD voice work)
there is a free to play i ... well play and i am so surprised how bad the acting is. they could have asked a few of the people i have voiced with do it and they would have done 10000 times better and for no money.(or little money) credits are more important in some cases.
alll i have to say to the ones who did that to you .. " its their loss!"

| Rules for voice Actors. 1) Keep in touch with the modder once you accept a role. 2) Do the lines exactly as provided by the modder unless given permission to change them.
Rules for Modders. 1) Give direction as to what you want and a description of the character. 2) Respect the voice actor he or she is doing this out of love of voice acting and appreciates being appreciated. 3) Remember the voice actor is a volunteer and Do not pick a voice actor and then start making exorbitant demands.m If you want a professional hire one. |
